How to reach us

The Fourth International SPONSE Workshop will be held at CAR COLLEGE located in Luigi Porta 10, 27100 Pavia, Italy.

 


FROM THE AIRPORT

There are three international airports close to Pavia. Milan Linate is the closest one at 50km, Milan Malpensa is at 90km and Orio al Serio (Bergamo) at 100km from Pavia.

Linate Airport

A taxi ride from Linate to Pavia will cost around €70. Alternatively, a direct bus connects the airport of Linate to the railway station of Pavia. There are only 5 daily departures (currently at 9.00 – 11.50 – 14.00 – 17.00 and 20.30). The bus service departs from the airport at gate 7 (operated by Autonoleggio Botti). If the time schedule is not working for your arrival or departure, it is possible to arrive in Pavia travelling through Milan. Many bus services are available outside the airport in order to arrive at the railway station in Milan. Once you arrive at the railway station Milano Centrale, it is possible to take the train to Pavia (www.trenitalia.com). Further information can be found on the Malpensa/Linate website.

Malpensa Airport

There is no direct connection between Malpensa and Pavia. You will have to go through the city of Milan. You might land at either Malpensa 1 or Malpensa 2 (Easyjet). From Malpensa terminal 1, you can take the Malpensa Express train that arrives in Milan Central station. A single ticket costs €11 and the train takes about an hour to arrive. From Milan Central Station there are trains going to Pavia (time schedule can be found at the Trenitalia website). Alternatively to the Malpensa Express train, there are buses almost every 15 minutes during the day (operated by Malpensa Shuttle or Autostradale). The cost of a single ticket is €8. It takes about 45 minutes from Terminal 1 and 35 minutes from Terminal 2. A taxi from Malpensa to Pavia will cost around €135. Further information can be found on the Malpensa/Linate website.

Orio al Serio Airport (Bergamo)

This is the Ryanair Airport for ‘Milan’. There is no direct connection between the airport of Orio al Serio and Pavia. A taxi from Orio al Serio to Pavia will cost around €130. Otherwise the fastest way to reach Pavia is to take a bus to Milan Central station (regular services are operated by both Orio Shuttle and Autostradale, the ticket costs €5) and then to take a train to Pavia (www.trenitalia.com). USING PUBLIC TRANSPORT

A regular train service connect Milan to Pavia. Intercity trains are fastest and usually only stop at Milan Central and Pavia Central station. The ticket costs €8 for a single trip. Alternatively, there are many regional trains, a single ticket costs €4. If you are interested to trains that directly connect Pavia to Milan city center (or some of the main metro station in Milan) you can take the train S13 (operated by Trenord). The train departs from Pavia and arrive to Milano Bovisa, it stops at all major metro stations.


BUS

Pavia is well connected by urban transportation service. There are two main bus lines connecting the Pavia’s Central Station to the city center as well as to the Eucentre Foundation: bus 3 and bus 6. Tickets (€ 1,30 for a single journey) can be bought at a kiosk inside the station or at the ‘tabacchi (T)’ at station’s square, or any (T) in town. BY TAXI

Just outside the Central Station of Pavia you find the taxi stand. A ride to arrive at the conference venue would cost about 10€.


BY WALKING

From the Pavia railway station, it is also possible to reach the conference venue by walking. The distance is about 1.4 km (please see this link for more information).
